Preparation for Assignment One - a portrait gameplan

So I've finished all the exercises and now it's full steam ahead to complete my first assignment. I've been mulling over what I've learnt over the last two months and need to sort out my gameplan. This assignment is all about creating between 5 and 7 different portraits using the same model - these need to differ in style, each to come from a separate photographic session.

While I took images on holiday in November with all of this in mind, I'm mindful that further on now with different experiences to draw on,  I want to come afresh to this project.

I always need a structure so having been thinking about a gameplan...

Timescale

My deadline for submission is 30 January - so just under three weeks..

Do I have a model?

Yes - with no siblings, grandchildren or godchildren, that leaves friends and my partner..given the timescale, number of photographic sessions and possible variety of locations, I have asked Terry to step in again...

What do I want to demonstrate?

Ideally:
  • Use of light
  • Eye contact / expression
  • Different / interesting poses
  • Interesting locations
Do I need a theme?

Still thinking about this as using one model is in a sense a theme. That said, I could develop a theme bases on trying to convey character or interests of my model or perhaps, use the choice of locations as a theme  e.g cityscape etc..

What locations will I be using?

Chicken or egg here...the location might well suggest a pose or a pose a location. One thing I know is that the locations need to be easily accessible, close by  and offering good possibilities whatever the weather.

Research ?

Certainly locations but shall continue to keep a watch on magazines, websites etc. to give me ideas...

Brainstorming..

I'm using a paper exercise here to throw in all my current ideas and firm up my gameplan:
